LYME DISEASE

I was bitten by a deer tick back in the year 1976 while working on the Mendocino National Forest. A bulls eye rash (Erythema migrans) developed at the site of the rash. I was soon very ill with flu like symptoms, followed with many symptoms too numerous to list in detail. The worst of the symptoms were mental confusion, severe burning and cramping in my gut, joint swelling, muscle pain, tendonitis etc. etc. The doctors told me that no one could have so many problems and symptoms. My blood tests were normal. My urine was normal, and my wife, a Medical Technician checked these regularly.
I saw head shrinks and advisors. I was given different kinds of mood altering drugs. I could not do my work, and my job was in jeopardy.

Finally, Dr. Grant Hurley of Monte Vista, Colorado suspected Lyme disease, and with the help of Drs. Paul Lavoie and Joseph Burrascano, Dr. Hurley obtained positive urine antigen tests for Lyme disease from Igenix Lab. in CA.
Dr. Hurley began to treat me with the antibiotic Doxycyclene. My health improved, and I was able to work and support my family, but each time I went off from antibiotics, my symptoms returned.
In 1976, I contacted what my docter now calls Master’s disease or Borrelosis (a Borrelia infection something like Lyme disease). Now it is 2011. I am still having symptoms.

I have been taking Doxycyclene (an antibiotic) for nearly a year with a herbal remedy called Samento. I thought I was getting better, so I quit taking these remedies in the first week of April 2011, and soon I developed sore muscles in my legs and painful tendons. I experienced severe burning in my lower colon with awful cramping. My knees, hips, shoulders, and left elbow became painful, and I was getting crippled. My eyes burned. Sinus trouble developed. My head ached. Muscles in my neck tightened up and became painful etc. etc. I had to go back on antibiotics. Today, May 16, I am finally getting some energy and strength back and hope for the future.

The U.S. Center for Disease Control recommends treating Lyme Disease for only two our three weeks, saying there in no benefit from longer treatments. The State of Texas persecutes Lyme disease literate doctors, forcing these doctors to abandon those of us that are ill with Borrelosis. There are thousands of us, and we all have similar stories. If I do not have access to antibiotics, my life if pure hell. There are very few doctors that will treat us, and many of the Lyme Disease Doctors have been put out of business. Who did it? Big insurance companies and the government are trying to save money. Medicare does not cover my costs.  Instead of treating us with low cost antibiotics, now they must treat all of our symptoms and perform unnecessary surgery, wasting money and forcing us to suffer needlessly. In Africa and much of Europe we could get help, but not in the USA.

Socialism verses Free Enterprise

Dear Citizen:
We the people see rich people on the road with their fancy cars, SUV's, boats, etc., and some of us are hard pressed to get a dependable car, suitable lodging, computers etc. Hillalry said: "we are all in this together." Meaning we will share with each other and all have enough. Callers to talk show hosts talk about equality, meaning that we should all share the wealth. Pull the rich down and raise the poor up is the idea. Share the money, and we should all have more than enough.

Wealth is produced by hard work. If money produced wealth we could print lots of money and pass it around. Then no person would need to work; OK, print away and what will happen?

If we pay people to do nothing, then they will produce nothing, and they will share nothing with the rest of us.
If you take the wealth from a person that has worked hard to get it. He will not work hard anymore, and he will produce much less to share with those that produce nothing.

I lived in a socialistic country for 30 months. The people lived in small apartments made by the government. Anyone that made any money was taxed heavily, so few were wealthy except government officials. Rarely the people had automobiles. The food was the cheapest available. The best food was sold out of the country. The people did not have an abundance of fruits and vegetables, and many people were ill and unhealthy. The attitude was, why work hard when you can't keep wealth and you can get things for free. There were few large companies, no factories etc. because the people could not get enough money together to start a business.

USA, this is where you are headed. Tax the rich into poverty; then there will be no rich to tax, and "trickle down economics" will stop. It is already stopping, and many that depended on the rich for work have lost their jobs. The many deadbeats that do and will slop at the government trough do not and will not work hard to produce goods and services. We are not headed for the good life by adopting socialism. We shall all have less. Look at the socialistic countries. The people have much less than the people in free countries where people are permitted to keep the benefits of working hard to produce things of value for others. Hard work produces goods and services and wealth for the nations that have freedom to own and keep property. Socialism has and does produced poverty, and that is where the USA is headed, poverty.

A. Evolution

When I was a young man I taught Botany Laboratory classes at a major University. I know something about basic biology. I taught about photosynthesis and plant cells.

Except for cells that use chemosynthesis for energy production (Hill et. al. p. 91& “Chemosynthesis,”see references), life depends on plant cells containing chlorophyll for the production of sugar, the fuel that supports life on earth.(Bonner and Galston p. 11). Nearly all energy on earth used by plants and animals came from the sun through photosynthesis and sugar production. The building blocks of the organic molecules that are necessary for life are sugar molecules. Starch, fats, proteins, and other organic molecules are made of hydrocarbon chains that were constructed from sugar building blocks (Hill et. al. p 79 & Encyclopedia Americana p. 38).
Chlorophyll is produced in the cells of plants. (Hill et. al. pp. 80-86). Plant cells and chlorophyll did not come to be by spontaneous generation. Sugar, the fuel of life, is produced through the action of chlorophyll, and it does not occur through spontaneous generation. Plant cells, the engines of life, did not occur by spontaneous generation; they produce the building blocks necessary for life. The building blocks could not have been present before there was a plant cell, and the plant cell could not have been present without fat, protein, starch, and sugar building blocks. Which came first: sugar, fat, protein, starch or the plant cell? Neither one, because you “can’t have one without the other.” They do not occur by spontaneous generation.
“
 “The heavens and earth were finished and all of the host of them...These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created...(was created) before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field (was created ) before it grew: for the LORD had not caused it to rain...and there was not a man to till the ground.” The plants were created before they grew naturally on the earth. Where were they created? Were they created in heaven before they grew on earth? If this is the case, then the six days of creation occurred in heaven, did they not? How old are the heavens?” (Job 38:1-7).The same atheists probably do not believe in the old idea of spontaneous generation, but they believe, teach, and use political means to force a more modern theory of spontaneous generation to be taught in schools while discounting and making illegal the teaching of other alternatives for the creation of life. This new, impossible, and totally unreasonable theory of spontaneous generation used to explain how life occurred on earth is called “evolution.”
Evolutionists have said that there was a protein soup in the ocean, and the first cell with all of its complex structures and functions came together in the soup, and this cell could reproduce other cells. Moreover, all by themselves these cells learned to coordinate functions and produce various structures and organs, and all by themselves these cells produced all of the complex life forms found on earth. Such an idea is hard to believe because:1. There is no evidence that there was ever a protein soup in the ocean before there were living cells to produce a protein soup. 2. Proteins, starches, fats, and other elements of life are made by cells. The protein soup fable taught by evolutionists was impossible because proteins are made only by living cells. If there were no cells, then there could not have been a protein soup in the ocean. If there were no protein soups, then cells could not have generated spontaneously in the ocean. One must have a cell to get the protein. 3. There are no protein soups found in our current oceans, lakes, ponds, or rivers unless made by cells.4. There is no evidence that there are protein soups on this earth that did not have their origin in living cells? Obviously, this new concept of spontaneous generation is fabricated and unreasonable.
Such a theory is as unreasonable as supposing that steel, rubber, oil, gasoline, engines, electric wiring, ignitions, lights, horns, and many other parts jumped together and made themselves into an automobile. Moreover, the automobile wrote a computer program that caused automobiles to make more automobiles, and over time the slower less desirable automobiles died out, and better models succeeded, because the older models could not compete, and these automobiles generated mechanics, body shops, and repair shops to fix themselves when damaged. Moreover, the automobile created General Motors, Ford, and other companies. Such is the theory of evolution. It is totally unreasonable that all of the complex chemistry, design, and structures of life just jumped together and got better over time as natural selection weeded out the less adapted and generated more adapted species.
Some species get sugar and related hydrocarbons through chemo-synthesis, but any argument concerning development of cells through chemo-synthesis is similar to the argument documented for plants containing chlorophyll. You cannot get the elements of life through chemo-synthesis unless you have a cell to begin with.
The cell is a complex chemical factory managed by genes (desoxyribonucleic acid, DNA, protein) (Bonner and Galston p. 268). Except for viruses and similar types (Ibid p. 269) there is no DNA found naturally outside of the cell, and there must be a cell to produce viruses and the natural DNA found in cells. Which came first, the cell or DNA? Neither, “you can’t have one without the other.”

Protein, the building block of animal cells, is produced only by cells. Proteins are made up of amino acids. On this earth, the main building block (sugar) of amino acids is produced only by cells. Several amino acids must be present before an animal or plant can produce protein. Several proteins are necessary for the growth and development of cells, and they are only produced in cells. I studied introductory organic chemistry in my younger days. I memorized the complex chemical structures of sugars, several amino acids, and of proteins. I was taught about the function of adenosine triphosphate in metabolism, and I learned about numerous organic cell compounds and functions. I was taught about nucleic acid, desoxyribonucleicacid, mitochondria, osmosis and other cell structures and functions (Bonner and Galston). Even today the processes of cells are not fully understood by man. To suppose that the complex cell with all of its workings jumped together in some ancient sea is well beyond belief.

There are some aspects of the theory of evolution that are scientific and can be supported by reason and facts. It is reasonable to believe that the flightless cormorants on the Galapagos Islands originated from flying cormorants. It might be reasonable to suppose that the DNA (genetic material) that controls wing development in cormorants resulted from mutation. However, it was probably already present in the DNA of cormorants and was brought forth by natural selection. Then, perhaps, flightless cormorants came to be. Mutations occur when DNA is damaged or changed by radiation or by some other means. Man can cause mutations by bombarding stem cells with x-rays or other radiation to change or damage DNA, causing changes in the genes. On rare occasion, new useful plants have been produced by this method of treatment. Moreover, introduction of DNA from one species into the cells of another species can produce useful plants. Some varieties of genetically altered corn are grown in the United States. Some of these are said to be superior to unaltered corn varieties. These and other procedures may result in new forms of plants and animals.
We know that a horse and a donkey can be crossed to produce a mule, but matching chromosomes pairs are not found in mule cells, so meiosis in the reproductive organs of a mule cannot produce viable sperm and egg cells. When we learn to double the chromosomes in mules, perhaps we can produce a diploid set of cells that can produce viable sperm and eggs and a new species.
It might be reasonable to believe that ancient ground sloths, bison, saber-toothed tigers, giant wolves, and other species of ancient geologic times have been modified into the sloths, bison, tigers, and wolves of today, but no one can prove that it happened.
Men are able to modify and have developed many varieties of dogs, horses, and other animals. It appears reasonable that natural selection and survival of the fittest could have and did result in changes in sloths, bison, tigers, and wolves, but except for fossils we have no historic records to support such occurrences. We make our theories by observing facts that support reasonable theories.
B. CreationThe Israelites that authored the Bible were poets, and their account of creation may not be “scientific.” Their writings do not follow the writing styles of the present day. One should not always take poetic writing literally. Poetry may permit one to think of several alternative explanations to the verse. One does not want to be too dogmatic by insisting that his/her particular interpretation is the same as the understanding of the author of the poetry.
It is common belief that the earth was created in seven 24 hour days. It is also taught that each day was 1,000 years long, making the period of creation 7,000 years (see Genesis 1).

Let us go back to photosynthesis as the basis for organic molecules. Oil, coal and natural gas are composed of organic molecules. Organic molecules are built from sugar molecules. In nature, sugar is known to be created only in living cells. Chlorophyll in the cells of plants binds the energy from the sun in sugar molecules that are made by the process of photosynthesis. Processes in living cells convert sugar into oils, wood, cellulose, and other hydrocarbons. Since these organic molecules are known to be created in cells, one may suppose that the oil, coal, and natural gas found in the earth had their beginning in the cells of plants. Coal still contains many plant parts that are easily recognized.
During the Carboniferous Era, there were many plants that thrived in moist areas. Moreover, there were many animals living in this environment as indicated by fossils. During the Carboniferous Era, organic matter apparently accumulated in water over many years, perhaps being similar to the accumulation of peat that occurs in the bogs of our current age. In time the organic matter containing oil and cellulose was buried under wind blown and/or sedimentary layers of earth. Over thousands and thousands of years, the organic deposits were apparently buried deeper and deeper in the earth by sediment and loess. The clay in the sedimentary layers was impervious, trapping gas and oil deep in the earth. Considering the quantity of oil, coal, and gas found in the earth, it probably took thousands of years for the process of photosynthesis to produce the very large reservoirs of hydrocarbons found there; it took longer for these hydrocarbons to be buried in the earth, and even longer for them to be exposed by erosion.
Standing high on the Mountains of the Manti-LaSal National Forest of Utah, on a clear day one can see into the canyons of the Colorado River and the Green River. The canyons have been cut by the rivers. Over thousands of years, the rivers have eroded into the sedimentary layers, exposing coal veins in the Book Cliff area.
Faced with the facts, one looking into the canyons of the Colorado River may conclude that the materials found in the earth are truly very very old. How long ago was the coal layer laid down by living plants of the earth? How long did it take for sediment to cover the coal? How long did it take for the sediment to turn into rock and shale? How long did it take the Colorado River to cut the canyon? How old is the rock in the bottom of the canyon under the coal layers?
People-of-faith may insist that the earth has existed for only a few thousand years, but people with science training may be hard pressed to accept the notion that the earth is not as old as the geologic ages appear to be. Consequently, people with scientific understanding may reject the teachings of creation as included in the Bible, and they may also reject religions based on the Bible. There are alternate explanations to the age of the earth and the time and ways of creation, but all of these are not included in this document. Putting all of these explanations in this book may create unwanted controversy among Christian readers. However, for the benefit of the scientific mind we shall consider some overlooked scriptures.
While my ideas may be offensive to you, the convinced Christian, the rest of us may need all of the scriptures in the Bible to support our faith. You can be happy with the scriptures you prefer to read. The rest of us might find faith by looking at a few more verses.I wish to present the following ideas about the age of the earth for those that have trouble believing that the earth is only a few thousand years old.
I have worked on most of the mountains surrounding Canyon Lands National Park in Utah. I have worked at the coal mines at Sunnyside Utah, and I have professional training and experience to understand much of the geology of the Colorado River area in Utah. As a young man, as I was looking into the Canyon Lands National Park from the mountains located east of Moab. I decided that the earth was much older than our Bible would indicate. I said to myself: “the Bible is wrong.” Then I said to myself, “I believe it is right.” I then asked for help to resolve the issue, and I got it. I decided that the earth is much older than a few thousand years, and I found scriptures to allow my position. I shall share a few of them. Chapter 2 of Genesis gives a different perspective of creation than Chapter 1
1" Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. (Hosts of heaven finished?)
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
4 ¶ These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground”
The Jews were poets, but if we take this scripture literally:

Think about it. If there were no plants on the earth, there could have been no animals and no man. However, the plants were created before they grew naturally upon the face of the earth. So it is written, and I believe what I read. So, what did God do to get plants, animals, and man on the earth: (Gen. 2:1-6).(not seven days ?) that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, (The age of the heavens is counted by man in thousands and millions of light years.)6 “But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground...(Gen. 2:8-10 & 15-20).
8 ¶ And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads...
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it...
18 ¶ And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him”

We read that God watered the land; He made a man, and planted (seeds ?) a garden, and the man was commanded to dress and keep the garden. The man then had a place to live. Then God formed beasts and finally a woman. What is wrong with this? If we should wish to colonize an empty planet somewhere, we might cause it to rain to soften the earth, Then we might send a man with a ration of food to plant seeds. Then there would be a garden where he could get food. Then when we had food for animals we could send animals, and lastly when we had things in order we could put men and women together so that there could be children. God is surely smart enough to do the same things we would do, should we ever be able to colonize a planet. Indeed, the Bible says that God did the reasonable thing, and it is scientific, is it not? I can believe it. Can you?

Oh no, we hear, but what about the seven days of creation, Eve and the rib? I am not sure that we know the full answers to these questions. Job was asked a similar question:1 “Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?
5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
 “Where wast thou when I (God) laid the foundations of the earth? Those of us that think we know so much, might remember that we sometimes, “darkeneth Counsel,” speak words without knowledge. Job could not answer God’s questions. Who are we that we can answer with full knowledge of how the earth was created? However, God gave Job a clue: “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” declare, if thou hast understanding.”
I ask the same question of the reader:
 When did the morning stars sing together? Who were the sons of God that shouted for joy? Were there any daughters shouting for joy? Can you answer? Perhaps God has given an answer:
1 “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered
3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron:
6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ
 ”in heaven before he was born on earth?
There was a woman in heaven, she brought forth a man child (perhaps Jesus) in heaven, or was it on earth, or both? There was a dragon in heaven. He drew a third part of the stars of heaven to earth (perhaps) to fight against Jesus Christ when he should be born. There was war in heaven, and the dragon (the devil) was cast out and his angels were cast out with him. Were the devil’s angels one-third of the hosts (stars) in heaven? Did they follow the devil and get cast out? What about the other two-thirds of the stars in heaven, who were they? Did they shout for joy when the devil was cast out? It may be that they said: “Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” The accuser of our brethren, who are our brethren that were accused by the devil? When the dragon gets to earth, he persecutes the woman. Wait a minute, was the woman also sent down to earth? I thought she was in heaven. Who is this woman? On earth the dragon makes war against the remnant of the seed of the woman? Who are the seed of the woman on this earth? Were they ever in heaven with her? Was Jesus “born
 The questions asked will be left for the reader to answer? The poetry in the book of Revelation must be interpreted by each individual. However, the answers to the questions asked will reveal great truths about the creation in the heavens and in the earth.
(the beginning).” (Revelation 12). declare, if thou hast understanding.C. SummaryRegardless of the arguments over evolution and creation, one must not discount all of the evidence shown previously for the existence of a God that can and did predict the future. The Mighty Arm of the Lord has been revealed as demonstrated previously, and people of faith have good reason to believe that the God of the Bible is God and that their faith in Him is reasonable. Forget the arguments created by the evolution verses creation controversy, and have hope in what has been demonstrated as being reasonable.Spontaneous generation is a foolish concept. It was commonly taught and believed by ignorant people. It is totally discounted by educated people. Yet today, some atheist scientists still teach and believe in spontaneous generation. They use their unreasonable and impossible theories to explain how life was created, because they cannot and do not believe that cells, chlorophyll, sugar, starch, protein, desoxyribonucleic acid, the cell wall, mitochondria, the cell membrane, adenosine-triphosphate, hormones, enzymes, and a host of other complex cell structures, functions and compounds were produced by an intelligent thinking being.
Evidence in the earth supports the idea that the elements are eternal, and the earth is indeed very old. Many people of faith insist the earth is only a few thousand years old, and their opinions are not acceptable to some of the people that have studied geology and other sciences. The truth may be somewhere between the views of evolutionists and the creationists. I have my own opinions; these are material for another book. When we know the truth, we can be free from error. When we hold to untruth dogmatically, our opinions can only be damaging to ourselves and to others.The idea that an intelligent being created life on earth is often discounted by evolutionists, and such an idea may be illegal in some public schools. Nevertheless, it is the only reasonable explanation for how the first living cell was created.

Spontaneous generation is a foolish concept. It was commonly taught and believed by ignorant people. It is totally discounted by educated people. Yet today, some atheist scientists still teach and believe in spontaneous generation. They use their unreasonable and impossible theories to explain how cells created themselves, because they cannot and do not believe that the cell and its elements including chlorophyll, sugar, protein, desoxyribonucleic acid, the cell wall, mitochondria, the cell membrane, adenosine-triphosphate, hormones, enzymes, and a host of other complex cell structures and elements were created by an intelligent thinking being, so they have concocted this new but impossible theory of spontaneous generation called evolution.
In the 1850’s many scientists thought that living things could arise from nonliving things. This idea is known as the theory of spontaneous generation. Louis Pasteur helped discredit this theory…(Pasteur thought that) living things could only come from other living things.” (Grolier “P,” p. 96).
